The Turkana are pastoralists living in Kenya after migrating from Uganda 400 years ago. Like the San, the Turkana don't want to own land, just grazing rights for their cattle, goats, and camels. The wealth of the Turkana is in their livestock.

Turkana girls are given dolls like this when they reach puberty. The doll is usually hand carved by the girl's mother and dressed with beads and leather from the girl's clothing.

The Turkana live in the Northwestern Kenya in the area of Lake Turkana. The land is hot and arid, like Southern Arizona.
